First thing with this is to check how you feel about a pose. It is much better to do a pose that you feel comfortable with than to attempt a pose to help an ailment and feel uncomfortable in it. It could have the reverse effect if you are stressing you body while in it.
What is the ailment?
Insomnia, depression and other more continuous conditions require a combination of excercises and postures.
Shoulder or neck pain where there hasn't been any particular injury can be released by simple focus on the breath in savasana, although difficult for some more than others...we generally like to move!
In order to bring healing to an area we need blood circulation to release lymphatics and bring nutrients to the cells. Joints need synovial fluid to loosen and so all fluids are pumped by pressure and stimulated by movement.
I think where injury is concerned you need to know what you can and can't do-or what you feel is possible in each moment, so try trikonasana-if the arm won't go up because your shoulder has an old injury such as a dislocation, you begin with keeping the arm on your back.
Stomach complaints like bloating, indigestion and headaches or nausia all havesignificant relief given the right pose...
so there will be more on this subject as its a good one-keep checking posts for updates!
In the meantime
Try Ardha Matsendasana for feeling bloated or indigestion...does it work for you?
