Maybe you are at a stage where the changes are more apparent as a result of regular meditating or your practice has developed a harmonious equilibrium with your cycle that you are blissfully unaware-either way tuning in is a GIFT! The hormonal changes and processes that occur involve Progesterone, Testosterone Estrogen and levels of Endorphins. So how do we find balance to support these in practise?..here are the 3 seasons to direct you:
- Its Summer hey!----
Estrogen rises together with testosterone to the 14th day-we feel like conquering the world with our energy and drive to blossom! so...
2. It's Autumn, colour descending-----
Estrogen begins to fall and then rises: Prepare and strengthen the connection to the ground by using hip openers like Mandukasana, standing open gounded/balance poses like Hasta Padangustasana (hand to foot), Vrkasana (Tree) and Adho Raja Kapotasana pose (half royal pigeon) .
3. Winter or fall?
Progesterone strikes, Estrogen falls again (pre-menstrual tension, 3-7 days before period):
Be on the floor.....dynamic moving on the floor using the upper body (the heart chakra can open to listen easily to the self and give loving kindness to the body: Move lightly for a short duration.
Lying poses like Savasana, Spinal twists, Supta Hasta Padangustasana, Adha Adho Mukha Svanasana( corpse, lying head to foot pose and half dog) Try these out to see how your body feels within your own cycle....listen in!
